Windows Live Messenger has stopped working

MSN messenger keeps coming up with an error.
Whenever I click on the icon to open it, it gives me the message in the title.

    It doesn't even open.

I am running Windows 7 home premium.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, downloading an older version and updating, etc.

    Please help!

What version of WLM are you using? Your system specs are apparently out of date as they say you are using Windows XP :)

Did this just start? Perhaps you have a system restore point from before this started? If not, some possible help.

Right click the WLM icon and run as administrator

    OR

Windows Live Messenger 14.0 crashes during Launch

    OR

    Disable any Adobe startup entries.

    OR

Disable unused WLM addons, such as camera or voice chat.

    Good luck. A Guy

I have Intel P8600 2.4GHz dual core processor, 4GB RAM, and running Windows 7 Home Premium on this dell Studio Laptop.

It is not recent so I can't really resort to system restore
