Is it worth upgrading to Second Copy 8?

I have Second Copy 7 & am really happy with it, but of course the upgrade emails says its "a major upgrade"

What do you guys think, is it worth shelling out the extra cash to upgrade?

Here is a description of Second Copy 8 from their web site.

Second Copy® is the perfect automatic backup software designed for all versions of Windows. It makes a backup of your data files to another directory, internal or external hard disk or to a computer across the network.

Second Copy® monitors the source files and keeps the backup updated with new or changed files. It runs in the background with no user interaction. So, once it is set up you always have a backup of your data somewhere else.

Hope this helps those that are viewing this thread.

It sounds like a great idea, but I'm not sure why you'd feel the need to pay for it, when you can have similiar functionality for free. SyncToy is free, made by Microsoft, and works with all client Windows OSes.

I dont know, when I came on these forums, Second Copy was what everybody suggested and no one said there were any free ones for win 7.

It's too late now as I already bought Second Copy a while ago. Now I just have to figure out if its worth upgrading to the most recent version.

How is it too late? You haven't spent any money on the upgrade, so you still have a choice. At least give SyncToy a shot...it's free, so you have nothing to lose. It can even be scheduled to run on its own.

This is the changelog for version 8 according to their site:

Quote:
8.0.0.0

Initial release

New feature: Copy open files using Volume Shadow Copy (32-bit Windows only)

New feature: Copy long filenames

New feature: Support for Unicode characters
Doesn't look like a must have upgrade if your current version is working for you.
