I cannot install programs in Windows 7

    Here's the error I get

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

The programs I want to install have an option to run as administrator but i am not allowed to select it even though I am the administrator. What can I do?

I run Windows 7 Home premium Please help I am about to loose it.

    Hi amonty86,

Is this just a certain piece of software or is it with all software?
Is it an .exe file that you are trying to run?

If you right click the install file and then select 'run as administrator' does that help?

    Regards,

Are you downloading these programs off the Internet?, because if you don't download the full package the program will not download and it fails the error you have come up with will happened.

it does that same thing with a few programs, including java and other updates. I am unable to select the run as administrator option. I can see it but i cannot select it. any ideas?

andyeah, the programs are all downloaded from the vendor. so far they are not being helpful.

Is your user defiantly in the administrator group?

Click Start >> Right Click Computer >> Click Manage >> Select Local Users and Groups >> Then Select Groups >> Double Click Administrators.
