    Yeah I had Vista and when I got my acer it came with Windows 7(Pre-Order) and I have had it for a couple years and just decided to upgrade it to 7 and now gimp wont work with it...

    At a guess, you need to get graphic drivers for your notebook. I don't use GIMP, but maybe it needs OpenGL drivers.

    Acer has Win7 drivers available:
