unable to delete arcsoft folder in start menu

when trying to delete the an arcosft folder in the start menu it gives an error: could not find this item, no longer located at c:\program data\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs'

i have used the take ownership reg edit and it still wont allow me to delete it.

when checking the security of the folder to see what permissions the folder has the tab doesnt show any information and gives the message: the requested security information is either unavailable or cant be displayed.

how can i get rid of this folder and why is it there. ive had problems before with deleting other arcsoft folders, with totalmedia extreme and arcosft totalmedia theatre. can anyone advise regarding this. cheers

Just a thought, right click the folder and go to properties. check the folder size. If it is zero, reboot into safe mode and try deleting it from there.

Let us know if that doesnt work

Elevate CMD and delete it from there, there probably isn't any need to boot into safe mode.

Right click CMD -> Run as admin
Type in: rmdir directory\foldername for folders
Type in: del directory\filename.extension for files

When/If prompted, type in y for yes

Try to rename the arcsoft folder, if possible, to a single word first, it should work then.
Or it is perhaps because the "Start Menu" folder is to blame, I'm not sure, so just in case, navigate in Windows Explorer to the Start Menu folder, then SHIFT+right click and choose "Open CMD at this location" or whataver, then try again.

i had a similar problem, this is what i did.
open the properties of the file from your start menu, look at the location
(mine said something like c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs)
the programdata is hidden, so allow hidden folders to be seen
then just delete the folder from there

    hope this helps.
