Can not remove Nero 10 registry keys

    Help Please-
There are several HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry keys that will not allow in any way deletion. I am not an expert on these matters but I do not know any more procedures to remove these entries.

After removing Nero 10 in the control panel using add-remove manner and also using the Nero clean tool and then trying to reinstall Nero 10 the installer (windows) tells me windows install that is..that the configuration is not working

Using regedit and searching I found loads of nero keys some of which I could remove via owner and permission. for many more I get 'error is preventing opening then the key name' and then access denied. If I try to change permission or owner they are greyed out totally. When trying to alter and save changes to the keys I am told unable to save permissions access denied. I don't need these keys but they may be preventing me for re9istalling but cam not get rid of them. I have used many trick programs (avenger etc) nothing seem to budge them. I even used the System admin facility and tried to do it that way... FRUSTRATED

Below is a small sample of keys with access denied

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ape, , Nero.MediaHub.10.ape.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ape\Nero.MediaHub.10.ape.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bmp, , NeroPhotoSnap.Files9.bmp
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.FLV\Nero.MediaHub.10.flv.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.neroserial
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.oga\Nero.MediaHub.10.oga.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ogv\Nero.MediaHub.10.ogv.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AdvrCnt0.NeroApplication
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AdvrCnt0.NeroApplication.2
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Nero.BackItUp.10.nba.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Nero.BackItUp.10.nbi.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Nero.BackItUp.10.nc_.1

    Anyone help me?

I see Broni at windowsbbs.com has been trying to help you ... Looks like he's thrown everything at you to help! I gave up on Nero 4 years ago, it trys to take over 'everything'.

My only suggestion would be to do a 'Repair' install Repair Install

After Re-installing try to uninstall it from Revo Uninstaller that too in advanced mode.

Just by chance try a registry cleaner.

The approach given to you by ...Lost is quite valid and has solved many problems caused by programs that don't want to uninstall correctly.

We have a tutorial on using RevoUninstaller, which I've never looked at. If the tutorial doesn't mention "advanced" mode then be sure to select it. The default mode will not get rid of everything.

    Let us know the results.

I will also recommend trying RevoUninstaller. It has solved many a problem for me with many PC's. It's also very user friendly, easy to use.

That is exactly what it does, takes over your entire system. Nero is malware disguised as DVD burning software, nothing more, the worst program ever invented IMO.

Hi thanks to you all..I was not at home to see if Broni had replied to my last query.you are right he was/is very patient and kind..as an aside I did use Revo 2.4 and I was still left with these keys..The only thing I can think of is that I make a mistake at the very beginning of the permissions issue and don't learn form it each time

Do us a favor, reinstall the program, run RevoUninstaller again being sure to choose that advanced option.

If you've still got entries left in the registry after running RevoUninstaller and running Auslogic's Registry Cleaner, let us know. There are a couple of possibilities which can be investigated.

I've heard from several acquaintances that the Nero General Clean Tool removes all traces of Nero Products.

Completely Uninstall Nero 10 With General Clean Tool

Disclaimer: I don't have any personal experience with it.

Sure do hope that your suggestion works. Much less effort than what I'd need to suggest.
