Windows Speech Recognition - Error: language configuration not support

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right subforum to ask this question, I googled alot, but none of the solutions I have found work. Perhaps someone might be able to help me here. I have a Sony Vaio with a built in microphone, which works perfectly. I'm running Win 7 Home Premium x64. Now when I first started Windows Speech Recognition it guided me trough the tutorial, everything worked perfect, the mic understood everything. But after the tutorial was finished and I acutally wanted to start using the program I get the following error, and it instantly closes:

    ********
Speech Recognition could not start because the language configuration is not supported

The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the Speech Recognition control panel under Advanced Options
    ********

One thing I saw in a thread and that I tried was

Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region > Region and Language: Changed Format to English (US)
    Changed Location to United States
Changed Keyboard layout to English (US)
Changed System Locale to English (US)

The Speech Recognition Language Control Panel > Ease of Access > Speech Recognition > Advanced speech options:
Changed Language to "Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows (English - US)"

I tried all this for the UK version too, but it didn't work either. When I try the option "Train Profile" it works perfectly again. Others said that re-installing Windows solves the problem. No way, I have tons of Gigs of programs installed. Is there really no way to solve this? The laptop is clean, no viruses or spyware, I didn't do any registry hacks, didn't tweak anything, I only did windows updates. I appreciate any help, thanks.
