Ghost Image for Win 7

Hi All,
I'm using Norton ghost to create my Windows 7 and Win XP SP3 image.
But I try to restore Win XP SP3 image, the system failed to boot up.

anyone have the same experience and know how to resolve it.

Or anyone can give me some suggestion how to reimage between Win 7 and Win XP.
I need both Clean OS frequently for my school project.

I need to verify the works on WIn 7 as well as Win XP.

Thanks

Wish I could help, but you couldnt pay me to use Norton (and I used to be a big Ghost fan). My suggestion is Acronis True image home.

Good Luck

Welcome to SevenForums,

As long as Win 7 is installed on the system you desire to image, then there is an easy answer.

Let us know if you are talking about imaging and restoring on computer(s) with only Win 7.

Yes , at one time the PC need to run only a single OS.
What I encounter the problem here is affter I run WIn 7 and try to reimage to win XP. The systme will failed to boot up.
Prompted :
"No boot device available - strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility."

Less problematic is going to be a dual-boot system. Then anytime you want to backup the system, you can tell the Win 7 Backup program to backup the Win 7 and the XP partition(s).

I am definitely not a fan of dual-boot systems. With that said, we have some excellent tutorials for dual-booters or so I've been told.

What do you say to a dual-boot system? or a Virtual Pc system or running XP in Virtual Mode?

Any chance of running both systems that you need as virtual machines?

I think you are a victim of the 100MB active Windows 7 partition. This partition is set as "active" in the MBR and works fine for Windows 7 because that is where the Windows 7 bootmgr is. But your XP probably has the bootmgr on C.

What you need to do (when XP is loaded) is to deactivate the 100MB partition and to activate the C partition. You best do that with the bootable CD of Partition Magic (last entry on the webpage) Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online The controls you need are under the Partition tab > Modify.
