Small admin icon on exe's

Hi guys,

This is my first post.

I recently did a clean Windows7 Ultimate 32bit install after a virus and am running Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 for the first time and this has started happening..

After the install everything was normal, except I couldn't delete some old folders on
some of the disks because they were owned by User 1-121-46-465... and read this was the previous install user, so I went through the ownership changed it to Me and deleted them. I am a n00b so may have done something to cause this in the process not sure.

At some stage since then, again sorry not sure exactly when, all downloaded install executable's and some of the previous installs ones already on the disks have this small admin icon on them and can only be run as an Administrator? I noticed this when trying to install Adobe Reader and failed saying it couldn't access the User/Admin/temp dir.

Strange thing is only some of the previous builds exe's are like this, eg in the pic MusicMixer and MediaMonkey were both already the disk and now one has the admin icon but not the other?

Any help please is very much appreciated.

Thank you

Cheers,
Lik

Edit: Something I just realised which may explain why I hadn't seen this before is because before the virus I was running a single user account that was a member of the administrators group. After the virus and with my new install I changed that so my user account was no longer a member of the administrators group and enabled the administrators account.

But still confused a bit as think there is a subtle difference between me running the app to be installed as me and then the system requesting admin access if required, opposed to running it and therefore installing it as admin?

Thanks again.

Hello Likwidsh0k, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You have it correct. The yellow/blue sheild overlay icon on a icon indicates that the program requires UAC permission from the administrator before Windows allows the program to run elevated (run as administrator).
