    My favorite cowboy when I was a wee one.

    Last time I got my update for IE8 at the Flash test page I posted above gives you a direct download to install.
    You have to click the "Do you really want to?" that Windows/IE 8 pops up.

    So it does sometimes anyway. Always so far for me.

    That's what I thought.

    After dwhite was still having trouble installing especially after JMH, and your post, permissions seemed to be the next item to check.

    Latest attempt. Noticed that installer was not updating the registry key with version number. Modified restry key key (after exporting it to desktop) programs still do not recognize player. Uninstalled flash player and installed older version, modified registry, rebooted. Programs still do not recognize

    Finally did what was recommended earlier and ran system restore. Problem solved.
    Should have donw it sooner. Thanks for the help and patience
