Windows 7: Office 2003 Professional move to new PC

I'm looking to move Microsoft Office 2003 from a Dell Optiplex GX280 running Windows XP Pro to my laptop which is running Windows 7 x64 Pro. I do not have access to a transfer cable, nor do I have access to the disk it was originally installed from as I got this PC off eBay for $70. A very good buy, I put $150 into it worth of upgrades and its running Left 4 Dead 2 with no problems. Anyway, I want to move the Office installation onto my laptop over my network. Is this possible? I use my laptop for more serious stuff than I use the Optiplex for.

Not without the install media, it isn't possible. However, you could use something like MagicJellyBean to recover the license key and then borrow an Office 2003 disc from a friend, and reinstall, using your key. Keep in mind, this technically isn't legal, as the person who sold you the computer should have included the COA with it, and you should have asked for it as well.

If that doesn't work, or isn't an option, don't both with an installed version of Office, and just use Office Live.

I never got a COA either for the OS or any of the software, but WGA passes it. However, the hardware alone was well worth the money so I might just erase the software as it might be pirated.

If the keys pass both Windows and Office WGA, then they may be valid. You could recover them using the software I mentioned, just to be sure. Then you could see if any of your friends have the discs you can borrow, or you might be able to buy the discs cheap on Ebay. Honestly, if my option wasOffice 2003, I'd just use the Office Live version for free, or Open Office if you need something that's installed locally.
