Windows 7: Sandboxie

01 Jun 2009   #1

Wanted to share this program with the forum. Stumbled onto this with Kaspersky 2010 (beta). KIS has a feature called sandbox that will allow users to run programs in a virtual environment. However, I don't think its ready for Windows 7 as I couldn't get any programs to run in it.

Googled around and found a stand alone program called Sandboxie and it's basically the same thing and for the most part is free. It's worth checking out. It doesn't allow any programs running within the virtual box to make any system changes unless you allow it. It makes for some very safe browsing imo.

It's available for XP, Vista 32bit, and according to the website Windows 7 RC build 7100 32bit Only. (See download page for compatible OS's.)
