Non Unicode Language and WLM

Hello Seven Forums!

I have a minor problem that arose when my dad requested to have Chinese language capabilities installed on this laptop.
The programs he uses often turned up in gibberish, which I corrected by changing the Language for non Unicode Programs to Chinese (Simplified, PRC).

The only problem now is that while I am using Windows Live Messenger, my font is changed to something that resembles Courier New and it has a grey colour (shows up on the screen of people I chat with too).

I have two questions:

1. Is there a fix around this? I don't want to have to restart my computer every time to switch back and forth to get rid of the font problem.

2. Is there a way to restrict non Unicode language settings to one account only?

Thank you all!
