iTunes 8 - Lag, freeze, biff, Zap

Most of the time it runs fine, but occasionally it starts lagging and freezing up a bit.

Closing and reopening it seems to work... but if it's open for too long again, it does the same. It's also using more RAM than in VIsta, though that may be due to the freezing etc.

It is in beta... but freezing and lagging aside how does it do with usability?

it works fine. iPod etc all connect fine. The lagging obviously can bve annoying when you have to wait 10 secs for your 'click' on a track to actually register and start playing, but it is useable. Aboust as useable as iTunes under WINE in linux i'd say. That too has a lag, but less of a lengthy one lol

Hm, I don't know. I'm using it and have been for the past few hours. It seems to work fine, I've yet to sync my iPod though.

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode just to see what happens?

Well, my computer is almost never off and always have itunes (newest build) running. Never experienced it. Try compatability mode or re-install. Might help

My computer is never off and i have the latest build of iTunes, too.

I'll think i will try in compatibility mode. Thing is, it was running fine at first and i haven't done anything to it...

YIKEs! running in compatibility for XP made it HELL OF A LOT worse.

Under Vista Compatibility it's the same as Windows 7. I'll reinstall i think.

LOL, yeah, I don't think they have it perfected yet. I've seen a few other posts with the same problem in Vista x64.

Considering how bad iTunes first was on Vista, it will likely take Apple until Windows 8 is almost ready to fix it enough to even stand it on Windows 7. I would just advice you to stop running sub-par software from a sub-par company on your innovative new OS!

It stands well for me on Windows 7. I haven't an issue with it, so far.
