    Installing Update

    Hi Friends,
i just want to know if see that there is an update available for any software/application then what's advisable to uninstall & install the downloaded update or just install the new update without uninstalling older version???

E.g. I'm using Adobe 9.1 version & now 9.4 is out so i download it from either Adobe website or any free download website like filehippo, softpedia, download.cnet etc. & then how to go about installing the latest version???

If there are any exception let me that as well as in lets say VLC don't need uninstall & reinstall procedure directly install the latest update etc.

    Thnx

Unless you rely on Adobe Reader for advanced operations you can wait to consider upgrading it until you use it and it notifies you there is an update.

But I would not let it (or Java) bother me with endless Updates by allowing them in the msconfig>Startup list.

In Adobe's case, you have to also uncheck "Check for Updates" on Edit>Preferences tab.

I think you can just install the Update unless it prompts you to uninstall or offers to do it for you.

Only if there is a problem with the software after Update would I worry about clean reinstalling the latest version.

The problems which once occurred in cases like this seem to have disappeared in Window 7. Even driver updates no longer require all the precautions they once did.
