    Multiple Microsoft Visual C++

    I have 11 different Microsoft Visual C++ programs on my new Acer, Win 7, 64bit computer. Some are 2005 Redistributable, some are 2008 Redistributable, some are X86, some are x64, some are 2005 ATL Updates, some are 2008 ATL Updates. Do I need all these? If not, which ones can I delete?

    They are all for different for each program that uses them... Instead of making you go download a huge file they include just a few pieces of it.

    I don't know if there's a way other than trial and error to track down the dependencies. Unless the particular program docs give the dependency info. The disk space saved is likely minuscule compared to the hassle of recovering it. Not to mention if you like one of the apps that gets broken, you have to mess around to fix it.

    I don't now how many times I've removed a program and gotten that "nobody is using library.dll do you want to delete it?" I think I deleted one without regretting it later. Unless you're on a super small HD it's better to find disk space savings other places.
