You don't really see a sidebar anymore, but I arrange my gadgets on the right hand side of my right monitor just like I did with Vista. There is actually a "sidebar.exe" running as a process, so does this mean the sidebar hasn't really disappeared?

If you have any of those Desktop gadgets floating on your desktop, that will be shown as sidebar.exe in the process. It surely doesn't mean that the sidebar is invisible.

Ok this Question is about the Gadgets and Missing sidebar. The only thing I miss about the sidebar is the ability to close all the gadgets at once and reopen it later with same gadgets.

Like If I am going to be gaming, I dont need the Gadgets and to free up 1% of resource I could close them.

Not a big deal, but just wondering if I am missing something and there is another way to do this?

    Thanks!

I'm sort of having the same issue as Sonixmon. I like to have multiple gadgets running when I'm not playing games or watching video/movies. But when I do want to play games or watch media, I have to close all gadgets for the extra resources. The problem is that they never save any of their settings, so I always have to reposition, resize, re-enter zip code for weather, change background for Google search gadget, etc. Is there anyway to save the settings so I can just restart them without all the fuss?

I just recently found a program that helps with this situation. It is not perfect but it is much better then closing all the gadgets.

The Prg. is Game Booster, it closes known un-needed processes when you switch to game mode. It also has an option to close additional processes.

The way to do it is run the Prg, hit switch to game mode, you will see the processes it wants to stop, then hit "show all processes" and select Sidebar from the list. Press close them now and it will close all gadgets! Once you have selected sidebar it remembers the next time BUT you have to hit show all processes each time .

This may change in future versions hopefully. By the way if you wonder if it made a difference, well I used to get "Lost Key Packets" in COD all the time before, now I havent since using this Prg. Except 1 time I forgot to run it before gaming!!

I think the sidebar apps, constantly accessing the internet were causing my lost key packets (at least most of them!).

    Hope this helps!
