Media player 12

Does anyone have a suggestion to replacing MP12 with an older version, or a downloadable replacement. I have 40gigs of music on an external HD, and wish to do playback from that drive. New music is constantly being added, and the Windows 7 mp12 reloads everything which takes hours. Any solution is greatly appreciated.

There are a number of downloadable media players. Different people find different ones mead there needs. A popular one is VLC Media Player which you can try out. It is free and if it does not meet your needs it can be removed at anytime.

Thanks for the quick response. All I need is a simple playback and something that will auto seek new files from the designated drive and add them to a library. I'll surely check out your linked program.

Since Windows Media Player is built in to Windows it can not be run from an external drive and you cannot use a version prior to the one that came with the OS. A lot of people have problems with WMP12. I found a page that discribes the five most commonly downloaded media players for Windows and has screenshots of each. I hope that is will give you an idea of what you have to choose from and make the right choice.
