Windows 7: Windows 7 I tunes Incompatability

Hi all 1st post so apologies if this is a repeat issue that from looking at other websitesit may be

Bottom line

Used to have a pc windows XP (2009) synched all music to my i pod touch

I have now replaced pc have windows 7 now but despite following various instructions in turning off the i tunes compatability issue still can't get things to work

HELP !!!! Any body out there tell me ( simply) what I need to do !!!!

The message coming up is

"ITunes.exe has ben set to run in compatability mode for an older version of Windows For best results, turn off compatability for iTunes before you open"

I followed instructions to go to i Tunes Properties click on Compatability and click Run this programme as an administrator but no joy when trying to get i tunes working

I also followed instructons on typing regedit enter navigating to this registry location HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/AppCompatFlags/Layers

I looked for a key thst refers to ITunes and deleted this but still no joy

I'm happy to post again if anybody knows what to do as thousands seem to have had the same problem
