'Out of Memory' error in Sony Vegas Movie Studio?

This may not be a specifically Windows 7 related problem, but I thought I'd try for a solution anyway, as this is causing a huge amount of inconvience for me.

I'm running Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum on Windows 7, you can see my spec on my profile. Whenever I try to render anything, even the most basic project, I get this annoying error message, and the process stops. Memory usage during rendering is about 1.9 GB at max, and I have 4 GB memory!

The most teeth-grittingly frustrating thing about it is that I can render projects successfully (if a little more slowly) on my old Windows XP PC, which only has 2 GB of memory! No error messages there. Any advice would be appreciated, since I've just squandered £700 on a machine that won't do the one single thing I bought it for!

If it worked fine on XP, then use Compatibility mode

Sadly, that hasn't worked... I'm getting the same error message, still about 3 minutes into the render.
I've heard of the same thing happening to other people, but the only fix I found was to convert .MOV files into another format, which isn't much use to me, since I work with AVCHD files.

Problem solved. I set the Dynamic RAM Preview to 0, and it worked fine after that. It must've just been the bad combination of a 32x application running on a 64x syste, and the video preview taking too much memory away from the rendering process.

Thanks for your help anyway Yowanvista.
