Hello Elbeasto,
I get this every once in awhile. Usuall clicking on Sync on the menu bar (Alt+M) will refresh Windows Live Mail to see it.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Brink, will give it a go.
No it's still not showing.
Just to be clear, I'm setting it as notifications only so when there is no new mail, there isn't any mail icone in the notification area.

Could this be something to do with using POP3 accounts? I do use my msn account with live mail but I have my ISP's POP3 account set as the default, (it's the one I used most often). | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU i7 2600K Motherboard Asus P67 EVO Memory Corsair Dominator, PC3-12800, (1600MHz), 4 x 2GB, 9-9-9-24 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 470 Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 2443BW Plus Screen Resolution 1900 x 1200 (16:10, as god intended) Keyboard Logitech Wireless Illuminated keyboard K800 Mouse Loigitech M950 Performance PSU Corsair HX1000 Case Silverstone TJ07 Cooling Water cooled, EK water blocks, D5, 480 rad, EK250 Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD (Boot OS)

Double check your notification settings to see if it may be set to hide. Also in Windows Live Mail, check in Tools, Options, and that both Make Default buttons are pressed and grayed out. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

Ok, notification setting is definately set to "Only show notifications".
In Live Mail one setting was not greyed out, the default news handler. I've made it the default mail and news handler now, both buttons are greyed out. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU i7 2600K Motherboard Asus P67 EVO Memory Corsair Dominator, PC3-12800, (1600MHz), 4 x 2GB, 9-9-9-24 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 470 Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 2443BW Plus Screen Resolution 1900 x 1200 (16:10, as god intended) Keyboard Logitech Wireless Illuminated keyboard K800 Mouse Loigitech M950 Performance PSU Corsair HX1000 Case Silverstone TJ07 Cooling Water cooled, EK water blocks, D5, 480 rad, EK250 Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD (Boot OS)

I'm not sure why you are not getting the same mail notification icon as the far left one below.
You might see if uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Live Mail may help. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

With "Only show notifications" selected nothing shows in the notification area at all.
I thought I would see this icon with new mail.
If I have "Show icon and notifications" selected then I see the icon you posted there all the time and the one I posted with new mail. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU i7 2600K Motherboard Asus P67 EVO Memory Corsair Dominator, PC3-12800, (1600MHz), 4 x 2GB, 9-9-9-24 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 470 Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 2443BW Plus Screen Resolution 1900 x 1200 (16:10, as god intended) Keyboard Logitech Wireless Illuminated keyboard K800 Mouse Loigitech M950 Performance PSU Corsair HX1000 Case Silverstone TJ07 Cooling Water cooled, EK water blocks, D5, 480 rad, EK250 Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD (Boot OS)

Yeah, unfortunately that's the only way that it works. At least it's gone when you close the program though. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector
