    Windows DVD Maker Widescreen Problems

I searched and to my surprise couldn't find a thread on my problem. When importing a widescreen .avi file to DVD Maker, no matter that I choose 16:9 as the aspect ratio the end product is always 4:3.

The only work around I've found is to format the avi file to wmv with Windows Live Movie prior to using DVD Maker.

Since this seems to have been a problem for quite some time, surely there must be a fix by now.

If it's Windows 7 it should be built in, otherwise you can use ImgBurn, a free program.

Apparently there's no known quick fix for Windows DVD Maker to make wide screen DVD's of avi files. I tried two work arounds. One, was importing the movie to Window Movie Maker 2.6, encoding and then using that file in WDM. That started out promising but the finished result was unmatchable. A second work around was doing basically the same with Windows Live Movie Maker. I haven't watched the entire DVD yet but the same parts in my 1st attempt where it screwed up appear to be OK.
