If you can't run games without this program then why are you running the game in the first place? I'm not surprised they would give it away. That doesn't change the fact that it still is a useless program.

Its not useless to its makers if it phones home with the information they are seeking. Remember these are the same folks who were caught red handed stealing AV definitions from Malwarebytes.
