after three days of fighting this I finally got it done...now that is the good news, the bad news is that I am not exactly sure how I did it but at least now we know it can be done. One thing for sure is that I did make sure I removed all the attempts and files from prior tries....the second thing is I downloaded the now free vuepring and used the free pass code supplied by Hamrick. Then after I got it going it still had one glitch and that was that every time I tried to open a photo I had to click on ok because w7 or whatever was checking the file so I did the "data exec" thing and it works just like it did on xp and I am now a happy camper once more ha ha. Hope this helps but at least now we know IT CAN BE DONE....

    VuePrint Pro Error Message

I had the same problem. Finally started over and followed to the letter the instructions on the Hamrick free download site to get the proper setting. But don't bother with that until you have done the download. Then when you go to the Data Execution Prevention screen and click where the instructions say to click, you will be given the opportunity to add programs. Browse through the program files to find VuePrint. To put the icon on your desktop after you have installed it you can find VuePrint under your program/accessories. Good luck!

VuePrint - Free Image Viewer in Windows 7 Home Premium

Ok.. I just got my first Windows 7 Home Premium PC (a cheap eMachines model). My favorite image viewer/editor is Viewprint Pro 8.0 - which is now a freeware program from Hamrick.com .... I was able to get it to work. This is what I did:
    1. go to VuePrint - Now Free! and click the "English" version
    2. SAVE the file onto your PC (do not open and/or run it, yet) .. and remember where you save the file:)
    3. Find the file on your PC and right-click on it ...
    4. Click on "Properties"
    5. Click on "Compatibility"
    6. add a check mark next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    7. click on the pull-down menu and choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
    8. *** I thought there was a choice in the Campatibility tab (or maybe the Security tab) that said something about the program being blocked and I had to click a button that said "unblock" ...
    9. Now, go to "my Computer" and right click on "Computer"
    10. choose "Properties"
    11. Choose "advanced system settings"
    12. Under the "advanced tab" click the "settings" in the "performance" section
    13. click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab
    14. choose the second button that says "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"
    15. click the "Add" button and browse to where you saved the downloaded file. Win 7 might require you to restart the PC for the changes to take effect. This will allow the install file to run
    16. Run the install program... The freeware serial number is 15551888
    17. Now, you need to repeat steps 9 thru 15 to add the execution file. The default location is c:\program files\VuePrint\vueprint.exe

You will always get a security pop-up message unless you change the "user account control settings" to "never notify" ... You can get past the Pop-up, but I found it annoying.

    Good Luck, Rick

Good luck and remember to look for that "unblock" button I mentioned in step #8.
