i have the black border problem as well. the menus and junk look good, but not when the movie is only on 3/4 of the screen. there are no settings to change that fix it, and i dont think a reinstall will do the trick either. It seems to be reoccurring bug (had the same thing in earlier builds)

I recommendz: Use a different program!

It is still in beta, so that is a good possibility. I have not had the problem, but I have different hardware....

This brings up a new question.
Have you tried the DVD in a DVD player? Or another computer? If not, do so. If you are experiencing a similar problem with something completely different, it is probably the same problem and not the program (in this case).

Here's an old ghost i'm gonna dig up....LOL

Windows DVD Maker is still producing DVD's in 4:3 aspect ratio, regardless of what settings are used (PAL, NTSC, 4:3, 16:9 and all manner of variations of the 4).

This issue, AFAIK, has still not been addressed my Microsoft. I'm running a brand new 'clean' install of RTM 7600 and the problem is still there.

I love Windows DVD Maker (on Vista anyway) for it's ease of use & professionally created/rendered menus, it just won't encode video to 16:9 widescreen

Is anyone else having this same issue? If so, i'll try and get some feedback to MS about it....

    Update:

    Have just posted this....

I have thus far made 3 copies of a film that shows in 16:9 on the screen but burns as 4:3. I have checked the options section before burning to be 16:9 but it only burns and replays in 4:3 both on PC and DVD player. Is this a windows issue or the media that I'm using? I have tried it in both Divx and WMP.

    Thanks

    Spike
Having the same issue, please not i'm using Windows 7 RC 7100.

Every DVD, no matter what settings (& combination of settings) are used, the menus all appear fine in 16:9 Widescreen, but the Video is always encoded in 4:3. Other DVD burning software (Nero, WinAVI, ConvertxtoDVD) have no issues and always burn how I want it, 16:9.

I'm a big fan of Windows DVD Maker for Vista, but it just wont do what I want in Windows 7 so i'm thinking it must be a issue with DVD Maker explicitly in Windows 7.

    Any ideas? Thanks

to burn my M2TS files ( coming from a Panasonic TZ7 ) or my Blu-ray, I m using ConvertXtoDVD instead of Windows DVD maker, the DVD menu aren't that good that Windows Movie Maker, but at least the quality is much better, faster, and also it supports much more formats :

    Download it from there :
VSO Download DVD Burning Software, convert AVI to DVD, video converter, DVD copy to DVD slideshow photo

You can find a serial or keygen easily, even if I recommand to buy it.
it also convert easily .wtv ( new windows media center format ) to DVD
