    teamviewer 6 out of beta!

    new version of the awesome teamviewer is here.

    Additional Improved and New Functions:

    • Optimized performance: TeamViewer connections are now even faster and more stable - particularly to and between company networks.

    • More user-friendly design: Navigate even faster and more easily! The new clear division between the remote maintenance and presentation modes is more user-friendly and convincing with its refreshing design.

    • Automatic: Now, TeamViewer re-establishes the connection automatically after a remote reboot or an update.

    • New language version: TeamViewer is now also available in Chinese. Overall, TeamViewer is now available in 19 languages. Additional language versions will follow.

    • More secure: You can protect the TeamViewer options with a password.
    ...and much more...

    you can still take control of machines running older versions, so there's no need for all your friends/clients/relatives to update their software.

    i'm a unreformed service tweaker, and i noticed that it installs a teamviewer service, which runs automatically by default. i first set it to manual, and the software still seemed to work fine without the service even starting itself manually. so i disabled it completely, and everything still seems to work ok. i'm actually posting this through a remote session with the service disabled at both ends. maybe it's only needed for vpn or something else that i don't use?

    =============================================

    apologies if this news has already been mentioned, but i did a quick search and couldn't find anything.
