    These are my registry entries for .psd files.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd]
    @="Photoshop.Image.12"
    "PerceivedType"="Image"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\OpenWithList]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\PersistentHandler]
    @="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellEx]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellEx\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96}]
    @="{68C300AC-2314-4992-99E3-957A9F6C6D79}"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12]
    @="Adobe Photoshop Image 12"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\CLSID]
    @="{F7988107-6CC2-4B7F-BC78-CC633129AA61}"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\DefaultIcon]
    @="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe,1"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\Insertable]
    @=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\protocol]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\protocol\StdFileEditing]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\protocol\StdFileEditing\server]
    @="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\edit]
    "LegacyDisable"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\edit\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe\" \"%1\""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\open]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe\" \"%1\""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\preview]
    "LegacyDisable"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\preview\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe\" \"%1\""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\print]
    "Icon"="E:\\ICONS\\System Context\\Print.ico"
    "Extended"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\shell\print\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe\" -p \"%1\""
    NOTE!!This runs the 32bit Photoshop.exe as default in a 64bit system (blame the plug-ins I use).

    Ok, try this:

    Start Orb -> Default Programs

    Click "Set your default programs"

    <wait...>

    Click on the "Windows Photo Viewer" when it shows up in the list.

    Click "Choose Defaults for this program"

    If you see ".psd" files listed, uncheck it.

    Close everything then re-assiciate PSD files with photoshop and see if it sticks...
    I tried that, Windows Photo Viewer was not associated with Photoshop Files, besides it can't be it doesn't understand PSD files !
    Mike that program doesn't run it causes an error when I try to install
    Hmm...sorry about that, runs perfectly for me. Fixed a problem I had with some associations.

    Maybe this will work for you?

    Fix Windows 7 File Association

    I also tried the program in the link you suggested, it only works with specific file types no mention of PSD.

    Fimble - I don't know how your registry helps me ?!?!?
