Nero C0overDesigner Win 7 64 bit Hi
Just joined and wondered if anyone might be able to help with this please.
I have just built a new PC. On my old PC, I was using a cut down piece of software called Nero Cover Designer (ver. 2 I think) which gave me a simple but useful means to create and burn Lightscribe CD's. The software was provided free with an LG Lightscribe writer. This was installed on my old hard drive running XP 32 bit.
Then I built a new PC, installed the old hard drive with XP as a back up on the new computer and installed all my software and documents and Win 7 64 bit on a new HDD as the main drive.
Problem is, I don't have the software disc for Coverdesigner anymore. I tried to copy the original installation files from old drive to new drive but there is a file missing advrcntr2.dll as in when trying to activate "CoverDes.exe, I get "This program requires the file advrcntr2.dll which was not found on this system".
I can find this file on the XP drive (it's in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib) and I think if I only knew where to put this file in the Windows 7 64 bit HDD, there's a chance it might work if I then copy all the original Coverdesigner files from the old drive to the new, including CoverDes.exe and then double-click the exe file.
Please could anyone tell me where to put this file in Win 7 ?
many thanks

Thanks for taking the trouble geeve420
I did actually have a look at this but although it's not bad, it just doesn't quite give me the same flexibility. One big disadvantage as far as I could tell was a restriction on where one could place text and pictures. CoverDesigner was better in this respect. | My System Specs | | OS Win 7 64 bit CPU Intel i7 950 Motherboard Asus P6X58D-E Memory 3 x 2GB Crucial Graphics Card ATI 5570 Sound Card Maudio 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Eizo Colouredge CG223W PSU Antec Case Lian Li Cooling Standard Hard Drives WD 650 GB

Thanks for posting your issue here. As I stated before, you're very likely going to need the CD to get that missing file. Also, have you checked with Nero to see if the program is even compatible with Windows 7 64-bit? Otherwise you may be chasing your own tail and never catching it.
In short, looking for that file may be all for naught if the program isn't compatible with Windows 7 x64.
BTW How old is the program?
Thanks. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). Hello Sygnus21 and Geeve420 again
I spent some time on the phone last night with Nero who were helpful but apart from offering 25% off Nero 10, which was kind of them, couldn't offer any suggestions. Basically Nero 10 is way too expensive and complicated for what I need.
Yes I realise there's a good chance it won't work but I thought that there might be a "default" folder where these sort of files went on installation in which case, if I only knew where that was - or where it might be- I'd give it a crack. Nothing lost nothing gained!
Don't forget that I have the actual file on the XP hard drive. I just don't know where to put it on the Win 7 drive. I'm presuming it got installed into the XP folder I refer to above - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib - as part of the original installation process.
I guess I bought the LG drive in April 2009 so the program must be a year or two older than that I suppose.
thanks for your help

No worries!!
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib is indeed where that .dll is supposed to go. Have you tried viewing hidden files, folders and drives? It may be in the old drive just as a hidden file. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Dimension E521 OS Windows 8, Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, Pear Linux Triple Boot CPU AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 dual-core Memory 3 GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 1GB Sound Card M-Audio Mobile Pre USB External Monitor(s) Displays Acer 1916W x2 Screen Resolution 1440X900 Keyboard Dell PSU 300 Watt Hard Drives 250 GB internal main, 500 GB internal backup, 1TB External |

geeve420, please re-read the OP's post. He's trying to " copy" the program over from his old XP machine to Windows x64. He doesn't have the original disk!

Add to the fact that the program is being copied from Windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. Who knows where those files are supposed to be is a complete guess! We can assume, but Windows 7 x64 is not Windows XP 32.
I say again, find the disk and see if you can actually install it. If not you may have to purchase a suitable sub.
My two cents. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). My two cents. Yeah I saw that and edited my previous post (#4). I was just trying to offer a way to perhaps find and copy the .dll from the old drive. Never said it would work, just thought it was worth a shot. As far as compatibility, I am sure there will be issues I have to agree with you as far as just get another program that is compatible.
I would imagine even if that .dll is found and moved it will throw even more errors at the OP, but what can hurt to try | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Dimension E521 OS Windows 8, Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, Pear Linux Triple Boot CPU AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 dual-core Memory 3 GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 1GB Sound Card M-Audio Mobile Pre USB External Monitor(s) Displays Acer 1916W x2 Screen Resolution 1440X900 Keyboard Dell PSU 300 Watt Hard Drives 250 GB internal main, 500 GB internal backup, 1TB External |

Also the file that's missing seems to be for software activation, and trying to get around software activation gets you....
