With a few applications I get System.Xml.XmlTextWriter errors which result in the application failing. I did a "scf /scannow" and found the System.Xml.dll to be corrupt. I copied this from a good working machine using the instructions found here: sfc /scannow detected some corrupt files.. unable to fix.. what to do?
. I had to do this in both file locations in the Microsoft.Net folder and the WinSxS folder. After doing this the scf scan reports no errors. After a reboot I still get the System.Xml.XmlTextWriter errors with both applications. I then used the dot net clean tool and let Windows reinstall .NET. After rebooting I have the same error with these applications. I have run out of ideas for correcting this besides a full reinstall of the OS. Before I do this, does anyone have another suggestion for me to try?
