wlm notification on adding new contacts

i've been having for some time now problem with sending/receiving new contact invitations in live messenger. if i add someone new, people never receive notification, and so do not i receive them. they only show up in windows profile web page (as new friend requests), where i usually never go. so won't know someone added me. i wonder if anyone else has this problem? i'm using wlm 2009.

    Hey kika,

I believe that would be a problem with windows live messenger. Might need to try a re-install on both yours and your friends. And also try to update to the latest version which is 2010.(It is really good because I use it :P).

    Good luck ,

thanks for the replay. i'd like to hear comments from people who use wlm 2009 though :) to know, if it is working for them. i have same problem on both operating systems, windows 7 and XP. the new messenger has horrible log in window - it is size almost half of screen, i will not use it thank you very much :) i need wlm for work mostly, don't want bloatware like social networks. and it will not even work on windows xp which is my main operating system for work. what i want to know, if other people experience the problem with wlm 2009, it might be problem with my live ID - that case i will just make new live ID.

    Sorry for the late reply

There is a button to make it looks different.

Here is a small tutorial for it:

When it first opens it will pop up like this:

After you his the button it will look like this:

    Anyways,

If it isn't working on 2 different operating systems, then it could be something with your account settings. So see if there is a setting for it. If not then try a new account, and tell me what works.

I believe you do. With the new WLM it opens up the page with your default internet browser. Unless there is a setting for it that you can change that in. I have not found it yet. xD

 Anyone using wlm 2009 has problem with adding contact requests??? I still do not receive invites on XP and wlm 2009 is only messenger that works on it I did try to install Emesene messenger and there also it's not working. Does Yahoo contacts work on WLM 2011? If I make Yahoo account and add all my WLM contacts there on Yahoo messenger and chat there, it works still or it's removed from new WLM? I don't have any Yahoo contacts to test myself it so any info is welcomed.

ok I did discover, this feature is removed from wlm 2009, now both people need to add each other if they are using this version of messenger, notifications will not be received more. can not think anything more stupid :| I did install msn 7 on my XP system and it is not affected from it, works perfectly.

    Ofcource you helped

I see as temporary solution though, I'm going to test how new WLM will see Yahoo usernames. As it's not connected with windows live ID people should be able to see my nickname.

The problem is, no one sees my screen name with new WLM if I set one from ebuddy. I usually put "mobile" infront of my nick, so people know to not send me too long messages on small mobile screen. I had no idea with new WLM people can not see that, before using it myself, didn't understand why suddenly no one cares about "mobile" message. Now I understand, they just can not see it. Very stupid to remove nicks.

If it won't work with Yahoo, I will just use skype and give up windows messenger :)
