msn help please

(had new windows live but preferred the old messenger so i downloaded old version of messenger)i get this now when i when I logged into MSN Messenger saying that if I wanted to update, I must log in as a local administrator. Now I can't even log in at all, because I get the message:

"You cannot sign into MSN Messenger because you are using an old version of MSN Messenger.

Note: To upgrade MSN Messenger, you need to log on to this computer as a local administrator."

What the heck does this mean i am the administrator, and how do I get MSN Messenger , thanks

My guess is, you'll either need to remove the Live version first, so they aren't conflicting....or if the MSN Messenger version isn't supported anymore.

Honestly, of the few remaining people I know of who still use IM programs, not one of them are using the service-provided application. All are using something like Trillian, Mirinda, etc. Give one of those a shot.
