Load it onto the new XP build and you should be able to transfer the files and settings onto the new machine.
You can pick and choose what gets transferred.

Ken Yes, I made it from Windows Easy Transfer. I planning to transfer the files to my new windows xp computer, but the option doesn't show up. I'll try that
I was using the one on Windows 7 installation disc
EDIT: Doesn't work | My System Specs

I have my backup in my external hard drive, so I selected the external option.
Here's the start menu.
Where is the "transfer to new computer" option?
It's missing when I do it | My System Specs

Using the "This is my new computer" expands the files and settings from the mig file to the computer your running it from.
Edit: Are you trying to use the Windows Easy Transfer from the Windows 7 DVD to move settings to XP? With that one you can only move settings from XP/Vista to Windows 7. Hence the missing option. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 3.2 GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 Memory 4 Gig Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4870 Sound Card Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 226BW Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 PSU Antec TruePower TP-550 Case Antec P180 Cooling Zalman CNPS9700, 3 Antec TriCool 120mm |

Windows Easy Transfer does not exist in XP (if it does then i missed it). Follow this tutorial Windows Easy Transfer - Transfer To & From Computers and you should have all the info you need.
Hope it helps if not then post back. Note You do not need to have 2 machines connected in order to transfer files & settings

I take it your wanting to transfer settings from XP to XP?
The 'Windows Easy Transfer for Windows XP ' is for http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
1) Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista
2) Windows Vista to Windows Vista
For XP to XP your going to want to use 'file and settings transfer wizard' built into XP. There is a guide on the MS website http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...p/migrate.mspx
To use the external disk method, start here: Windows XP: Moving files and settings to a new computer
Hope that helps | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 3.2 GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 Memory 4 Gig Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4870 Sound Card Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 226BW Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 PSU Antec TruePower TP-550 Case Antec P180 Cooling Zalman CNPS9700, 3 Antec TriCool 120mm Windows Easy Transfer problems?
