    Can't launch .exe's

This is driving me crazy! I've just installed Windows 7 on my Sony Vaio. In setting up, I have been trying to run some .exe's. I can't get any of them to run from Windows Explorer. Whether I double-click on them, or right-click and select 'Open' or 'Run as Administrator' - just nothing happens.

    Please help!

    Thanks

Hello Fluffbert, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if downloading and merging the EXE option in the tutorial below may be able to fix this for you after a restart. It restores the default associations for the exe file extension.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Hi Shawn - thank you for the welcome and reply. I saw your possible solution in another thread. The files have the correct extension associated with them. Absolutely nothing happens though when I click on them. Some of them have been copied across from the Windows.old folder, which was created when I did a clean install of 7. Maybe that's the issue? Maybe they cannot be opened? Thanks again

Are you able to run any exe files on your computer, say notepad.exe?

If not, try using the exe download above to fully restore the default associations, and try again after the restart.
