Ok, big problem with win 7. Need Help
Ok, here it is straight.
I have had on several occasions been unable to install 3rd party software due to an issue in windows 7(affects all versions). It started when I tried installing OpenOffice, then happened again with a couple of microsoft programs, most recently(and the reason for this post) with the driver software for my new Razer keyboard.
When I installed OpenOffice and it didn't install due to a 1935 error, I immediately started researching the issue. I was able to resolve the issue by adjusting ownership rights and priveleges of several files and folders, removing .Net and a couple other minor things. When I went to install the microsoft programs and encountered similar issues, I attempted to repeat the steps from my previous issue. It didn't work, but after doing the same steps on other folders I was able to install.
Now however I am unable to install the drivers and software that go with the keyboard I purchased. I recieve a 1935 error VC90 with HResult 0x80070002. When I watch the start menu this program actually will install. If I access the program before responding to the error window I can access the program and it has full functionality, all the extra keys on my keyboard work, all the special functions function. If I click OK in the error window however it then rolls back the installation and removes the program.
It seems I recieve the error at the final stage of installation where it inputs information into some system file or registry for the installation, after the program has already been installed.
I'm not sure if this is due to a conflict between MSInstaller and TrustedInstaller, or some other issue.
I'm not looking for guides on how to remove .Net, or take ownership etc. What I need is an actual fix to my issue, not something to do for individual problems but that will solve this completely so it no longer occurs.
What I've done:
Removed .Net Framework
Taken Ownership of applicable files/folders
renamed files
disabled/enable applicable services
disabled A/V programs(even went so far as to remove it completely, yes I reinstalled it)
installed a fresh .Net Framework(incidently it's imbedded in Win7)
Run the install as administrator
Ran the install from an administrator account
As far as I can see I've gone through and done all the normal/regular steps to work around installation issues.
I will say this, there is one thing that is new about this installation that's different.
I no longer recieve a 1602 error after the roll back of the installation. On previous issues, I'd recieve the 1935, then after it would roll back the installation I'd recieve a 1602 error.
