Uninstall - Windows Live Essentials - Wont work?

Have = win 7 Professional

When I try to install Win Live Essentials 2011 I receive the message
"You already have different build flavor of Windows Live"
"If you want to install this version, first uninstall the version that is installed on your computer."

When I try and uninstall the current version the win live uninstall window list all the apps and itself as not being able to uninstallable...

Help???

WLE should be able to get uninstalled from 'Programs and Features.'

Microsoft doesn't seem to have any workable solution to this problem either. I search their boards and found nothing but dead ends..I sort of expected that!

If you dont have the latest version of WLE it should get updated automatically.

I have done a bit of digging and this is indeed a well-known problem. I have found this:
Download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 2.5.0.1 Free - Remove Windows Installer configuration information on failed installs - Softpedia
I have never used this software so cannot vouch for it. I would wait until others more learned that me comment on it's suitability.

My tool of choice for uninstalls is Revo Uninstaller Portable

Revo Uninstaller Portable is absolutely the best solution when you want to delete some nasty program that doesn't want to remove herself willingly!

I'd use the official Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility first if for no other reason than to see if WLE is even listed. I'd also get it from the Microsoft TechNet site:

Free Utility: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

My concern is this tool was last updated in 2008 but since it works on only the Windows Installer configuration it might be better than the brute force removal used by Revo. As the instructions state: "...you would resort to this utility if you can't uninstall or update an application through Add/Remove Programs or other methods. By deleting the Windows Installer information, you should be able to reinstall the application. You can then leave the program installed as is, update it, or even remove it." All of this presupposes that WLE is actually listed in the Cleanup dialog box. If it isn't, I'd then definitely go with Revo.
