Windows Live Messenger 2011 not working!! error code 8100030d

    Hello,

I used to have the older version of WLM on my laptop and it worked absolutely fine. I decided to install the 2011 essentials pack and suddenly couldn't sign into WLM anymore. It keeps telling me that the service is not available at the moment with the error code 8100030d

I really don't know what to do. I've tried re-installing it and also followed the instructions given next to the error code. Can anyone help me???

    Thanks!

Do you have AVG anti-virus? Disable the 'web shield' if you do ... then see if it works.

    1. Open the AVG User Interface.
    2. Double-click on the Web Shield component.
    3. Switch on the Instant Messaging tab.
    4. Uncheck the Instant Messaging protection option.
    5. Confirm changes by clicking the Save Changes button

Thanks for your reply. I don't have AVG though.

I hate Windows Live Messenger 2011 and went straight back to 2010. 2011 is to buggy and this is not the first time I've heared of people using 2011 and it doing this sort of thing, have you tried going back to the 2010 version...?

Also Windows Clean Up gets rid of all the files that basic uninstalling doesn't get rid of. Try something like that and then re-install and see if that works, other than that go back to 2010 it's far better IMO

    Goodluck :)

I avoid Live Messenger in its entirety, haven't used it since it was called MSN messenger. I switched to aMSN, it doesn't look as 'shiny' as the new Live Messenger releases, but all the functionality is still there and in a much smaller program.

    More information here:
    MSN Messenger Error Code 8100030d

    Windows Live Mechell P.

If the troubleshooting steps from the solution article "Error 8100030d: Cannot Sign-in to Windows Live Messenger" (Error 8100030d: Cannot Sign-in to Windows Live Messenger) did not work, It is most likely that some Windows Live Messenger related files become corrupted.

To fix this issue, please perform a clean install of the program. Clean Install is different from manually removing then reinstalling the program. This process has steps that would permanently remove all Windows Live Messenger related files on the system giving you a fresh new slate to work on. The details of the steps are presented on the following link: How to perform Clean Installation of Windows Live Messenger

Please post back if this resolves the problem. :)
