    Need help with winamp free!

    Dear friends,

This call goes out to all those in love with Winamp!

Without a shred of doubt(at least in my mind) Winamp Free delivers music and picture rivalled by only(surprise)The WMP in Win.7

My prob. is simple: i am unable to play my collection of movies and music videos on Winamp and that is slowly killing me! I am able to play the same on other multi-media players like VLC, WMP11, KM Player and the GNU licensed GOM Player! Why i said "slow" is ,i am able to at least play and enjoy the pluperfect audio on Winamp!

I request you, dear trouble shooters to solve this problem which has been eating my vitals since quite some time! Your valuable and informed advise is most required and i'll be grateful for it!

    regards,
    Sreedhav

State of play: Deleted the Nullsoft AVI Demuxer and the Nullsoft MKV Demuxer from Winamp-->Options-->Preferences-->Plug-ins-->Input.

Then added ;AVI and ;MKV extensions to the Nullsoft Directshow Decoder v 1.08 via the same path as above. Source :Winamp unable to play Video in Win7 32bit - Winamp Forums

I have the windows 7 codecs pack installed. I then went to this site to download the Winamp Essentials pack : Winamp Essentials Pack v5.6 - Winamp . Please note that one must have Winamp version 5.6 or above to use this plug-in pack

Then i had to add G Spot 270a.zip from : GSpot v2.70aand Media info CLI_0.7.27_Windows from : Download MediaInfo from SourceForge.net

I did all this tinkering and the ultimate result was that i am presently able to play .avi videos in Winamp 5.601. I have yet to play other video and DVD formats.

PS: anybody aware of any multimedia player which offers a 10-Band Graphic Equalizer for free?

I went to the forum at Winamp and the general suggestion was to install the ffdshow Codecs for optimal viewing of mp4 and movies! Why i am stressing on .mp4 is it's versatile. One can download to ipod straight or watch them on M-M Players on a big enough monitor.

Hence i downloaded ffdshow codecs from : ffdshow tryouts | Download

Once i installed these codecs,Winamp's Video doors magically opened out and thus a long and vexing prob.was resolved!

Since i cannot +Rep myself, i request one of the viewers who have benefitted from my monologue to do the honours for me!

Site to download WINAMP STANDARD (FREE): Download Winamp Media Player - Free MP3, Video, and Music Player - Winamp
The thread can be considered as"solved".
    Regards,

    Sreedhav:)
