Windows Live messenger crashes on Logon Whenever I sign onto WLM, that is to put in my info, click sign in, and I get signed in, contact list shows, but than it crashes. Standard error message of "This program has stopped working blah blah blah"
I was running Windows live beta 7000 before with no issues. It's not an issue with my computer or network, as everything else is in tip top shape.
I have tried to re-install this numerous times to no avail.
I have tried uninstalling my Anti-virus. Also Disables Windows firewall. Also, I always have Defender and UAC off.
Im running windows 7 RC, 7100.
I have a q6600 CPU, Asus p5n-d mobo, the f1 spinpoint 1tb hd, evga 9800+ Vid card.
I have tried running the program as administrator, in different compatability modes, i've tried re-starting than logging in.
Oh, and why the hell do I get no options when installing windows live messenger? this pisses me right off. I can't even chosse where to install to. It's bogus.

Thats why this befuddles me so. I just installed this yesterday. I have no malware, Im sure of that, I've had no chance to get any.
Also, I downloaded this from the offical windows live essentials link...
Oh, Something I just noticed. I tried to log onto a different email to see how that would work. And first, let me tell you what happend earlier.
After i installed, I tried to logon with my addy and Pass, and it would just do the whole, msn dudes spinning... than stop and go back to sign in screen. It took me like 10-15 tries before finally it connected, but than crashed. I had assumed maybe I had the wrong info somewhere, but now I've noticed if i DO put in the wrong info it tells me.
So now, trying to sign in with a diff email adress, I'm getting the same thing happening, it doesent connect through. I havent gotten it to go to the contact list yet. | My System Specs | | |

Uninstall it, reboot, download it again from M$ site (delete the previous DL) and then try installing it again - it may be a corrupted DL....
Also, as a test, you could try DLing another client that supports WLM (Adium, Pidgen, Miranda, Trillium) and test your accounts in those - if it does something similar then it is quite possibly something else - such as you being logged in on another machine with some sort of reg hack and / or add-on that constantly logs you back in if you are logged out, that sort of thing...which could then make Windows 7 *think* that this copy is not working b/c it is logging in only to get logged right back out....

I will give all of this a shot, although each time i re-installed, I also re-downloaded. But I will also give trillium a shot.
Oh, and i found someone else with the same issue, Windows Live Messenger 2009 not working on my Windows 7 (Build 7100)? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers
Oh, and I have a good connection, I'm wired. Through bell, I'm in canada. Can't think of exactly how to describe it, but lets just say it's good. I can easily pull off over 1mb/s download speeds with a download manager and rapidshare links as a member.
