Windows 7 - Split screen explorer? |

Split screen explorer? I am looking for a tweak / addon (no spyware please!) fix for windows 7 x64's standard explorer interface.
I would like to have a multiple or split in half explorer interface basically two windows in one so I can easily drag files from one folder to another without cutting and pasting or opening a secondary window. Similar to how most FTP clients work.
Does anyone know of anything like this thats safe and free?
Thanks

There are many choices available as an alternative to Windows Explorer.
Some are free, others are not.
A free one that I've heard about is QDir. It offers split pane views and many other features not found in Windows Explorer and you can get it here: qdir free download
The nice thing about QDir is that it's portable; that is, it needs no installation.
Using your favorite search engine, you will be able to find many more.

Just open an explorer window and drag it all the way to the left (or right) and release the window. Then open another Explorer window in the other side. That is a basic Windows 7 function. No extra programs required.
Another possibility is to fix windows with Deskpins ( http://users.forthnet.gr/pat/efotini.../deskpins.html ). Then you can have multiple windows concurrently. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

I have to try on my laptop. But there I use a mouse with a scrollball. with some mousepad software, clicking both buttons together acts as a middle-click.
i guess it depends on the driver. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number mickey megabyte 1234 OS ultimate 64 sp1 CPU i5 2500K 3.3@4.2GHz Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 Memory 8 gigs GSkill Ripjaws 1600 Graphics Card amd hd6950 Sound Card creative x-fi gamer Monitor(s) Displays samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard saitek eclipse ii Mouse logitech g3 PSU antec 550 Case antec three hundred Cooling i'm a cooling fan Hard Drives ocz vertex 2e 60 gig, samsung f3 1tb, buffalo 2tb ext Internet Speed about 4 Mbps Other Info i love win7 |
