sorry didnt understand you about where the visualisation was.i see its under the timer on the classic winamp.that works fine.
when you installed winamp in the first place, what option did you chose?
the 'lite' option doesn't include video playback, nor any codecs unsurprisingly.
in fact, investigating further, you shouldn't need external codecs at all.
if you haven't tried already, do a complete uninstall, download it again, then reinstall using the 'full' option.
if it still fails to work, then i'm stumped, and all i can suggest then is to use another media player for your movies. vlc is very popular, and also doesn't need any external codecs.
---------------
*edit* after reading your last post: for most skins, the visualisation window doubles up as the video playback area too.
reinstalled still same.except when i clicked on video options to visualisation options if i click on the start plugins i get directx or 3d adapter errors.Im not an expert on graphics cards but since the other players vlc and gom have no problems it cant be my graphics card can it(integrated gc) also crashes winamp.
in that case, i would stop using winamp.
really don't know what the problem is, sorry, except for are you sure you have the latest video/display drivers for your machine?
you could try windows update, and see if that finds any newer drivers in the 'optional' tab.
or maybe directx needs updating?
if other media players work fine, then i would stick with them - you know it makes sense!
i ran directx diagnostic got error cant find extra display info(but i think thats 32bit diag )cause i pressed the 64bit diagnostic and everything is fine and enabled.
Maybe winamp is frakked cause its 32bit and it doesnt like 64bit machines.
it runs happily on my x64.
oh well...
Occasionally one finds software that runs badly or not at all on some setups. One can usually get it running eventually, but this can take a long time and a lot of effort. If other comparable software runs OK, then it is often better just to stick with that.
I had quite a few "glitches" with Win-Amp on my personal x64 machine, ( although it runs fine on others), so I uninstalled it.

mickey megabyte: I checked my drivers are up to date and directx diag 64bit shows no problems.
Mike O Conner : Winamp had no problems as an audio player its the video im having problem.
I think ive come to the end have uninstalled Winamp fully.Gonna use Spider player for audio and Gom/VLC for video in future.
thanks guys for your help.
