    "Windows cannot find program" Error

Hi guys, I have really enjoyed utilising this site over the last 6 months and thought I better sign up seeing I need your help this time, as I cannot find a solution on my own!

I have been using this particular program since 2005, on XP, Vista and now Seven without a problem up until a few weeks ago. Now when I attempt to start the program I get this message pop up

I have tried totally deleting the program and all its traces left behind and reinstalling, ensuring I have admin rights, as well as compatability options to no avail.

I am stumped and as I use this program nearly every day I am currently having to use a virtual machine running xp to use it at great convenience.

Any assistance in fixing this problem will be greatly appreciated and will try all suggestions offered to me and get back to you! I have filled in as many ssystem specs as I can in case it helps
    Cheers for now

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

Can you check your last installed updates, I'm thinking that SP1 may have broken compatability settings for the APP.

Thanks, I will go find the list and get back to you, but I do not have auto updates selected, and have not installed the "full SP1" I know that much. Thanks for the quick reply though!

I have a list of updates I just compiled in a html file, if it will be any help

Did you try to launch the program in its original path?
Did you meet this problem after you install Service Pack 1?
Compatability settings might be one of the soluton, apply it and set to "Windows XP",
also check the path,is it the file exist?(BAN AU.exe)

If not,you might need to check the installation first.

Hi yes I did try launching from the original path in the original directory, I also tried installing it elsewhere with no success.I have not installed service pack 1 for windows seven! I also have tried every compatibility option and I cannot run the program.Has me stumped. The program directory and its integrity are fine, as I can run it on my laptop, and in a Virtual machine both XP and WIN7. So it is sending me crazy, darting from one computer to the other every single day, many times a day!

I think I fluked a solution (well so far) I did a search of the registry with the search term BAN.exe and a string came up with this attatched to it.
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\TuneUp Utilities 2011\TUAutoReactivator64.exe"
I deleted that software, called tune-up utilities 2011 quite a while ago as I though it slowed my computer down, compared to the previous version Tune-up Utilities 2010.

So I deleted it from the registry and wouldn't you know it, my program fired up instantly with no problems. :)

I will research that particular file for future reference in case it causes others coming here looking for a solution to exe files not being found...
