    Problem Uninstalling Programs

    Hey everyone,
I am unable to install some programs on my computer. When I go to uninstall programs published by Cyber-Link or HP, an InstallShield Wizard pops up and it says "Preparing to install." When it is done loading the window closes and after a very long wait, another window pops up saying:

PowerDirector (The program I'm trying to uninstall) was detected on your system. Please uninstall first. Do you want to uninstall PowerDirector now?

I click yes then the window closes. After another very long wait another window appears with the following message:

Error!! The product definitation file lost.

I immediately noticed that "Definition" is spelt wrong so I thought it must be a virus. I ran a full scan with both Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials but they didn't find anything. I have no idea what to do. Can someone please help me. Thanks.

    Hi Jack

Does the uninstall have an option to repair?

If you find it does then 1st do a repair then try again to uninstall it, iv seen this many times with programs such as Avast but usually after a virus or system corruption

Another option could be to reinstall from source to fix and replace any missing or corrupt files then again try to uninstall

    hope this helps

Hi Jacksunny and welcome to the Forum. Good advice posted by Ripbox. If that fails however, you might try the Uninstaller at the link I have provided below. Many members here at the Forum use this program.

No, the uninstaller didn't have a repair option. Thanks anyway. I tried out Revo Uninstaller and liked it so I will use it from now on.

Try re-installing PowerDirector first to mitigate any corrupt files....then uninstall with RevoUninstaller.
