Problems with Windows Live Messenger 2009 (v14)

Whenever I try to log in to WLM, it shows me this:

I have internet, I have everything right except that it doesn't let me log in. The specs are :
Operating System: MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    CPU: Intel Pentium T4400 @ 2.20GHz Penryn 45nm Technology
    RAM: 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)
    Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0G848F (Microprocessor)
Hard Drives: 488GB Western Digital WDC WD5000BEVT-75A0RT0 (SATA)

I use AVG Internet Security 2011 and MBAM Pro.

Note: This is NOT my PC it is a friend's computer that I am trying to fix.

Are Date and Time Settings correct on the machine?
Have you tried this old trick?

Have you tried reinstalling it with original MS package?
I see wlsetup-custom.exe file on the screenshot, and its name does not sounds original to me. Usually it is wlsetup-web.exe or wlsetup-all.exe

Direct MS links for MS Live Essential can be obtained here
Download Windows Live Essentials (Messenger) Version 2009 for Windows 7 « My Digital Life

Also, what does it shows when you click on Show Details button at the bottom?
