Installing RMClock Utility (W7 7232)

Hey,

I have another computer I'm working on here (not the one in my listed system specs) that is having a slight heat problem. It has more than enough power for what it does, so I'm looking to underclock/undervolt the processor by a small amount. Unfortunately, the system's BIOS does not allow me access to the CPU settings.

I want to use the software program RMClock 2.35, as I have had success with it in the past (on Vista). But RMClock's driver is not digitally signed, so Windows 7 won't let me install it. Is there any way around this problem?

I think a recent update made it unable to run Digitally Signed drivers. You probably have to wait until the drivers are digitally signed.

However, this solution was posted somewhere else and may work for you.

I'll give that a try. I hope it works, because the drivers are not going to be digitally signed, as the creators of RMClock disappeared and abandoned the project a while ago.

You can start RMClock via Task Scheduler + Check the Run with highest privileges box

Hey phil there is a tutorial in the tutorial section telling how to run an unsigned driver. what makes you think you have a heat issue?

Isn't that essentially the same thing as right-clicking the program and hitting "Run as administrator"? Won't it still deny access to the unsigned driver?

I looked at that tutorial, but I didn't see any way to make it permanent. This driver needs to be able to run seamlessly every time the PC starts.

As for the heat issue, well it's just that the temperatures being reported by SpeedFan are higher than normal for this CPU. I lost two computers to heat just in the past year, so I'm trying to be extremely cautious with this one.

I think - No.
It works fine and permanent. Did You try it?

Signed driver for RMClock (64bit) can be found in the net - but as RMClock is now quite old it has no idea for instance about my 720QM processor - no temperature etc.
