    Welcome to Windows 7 forum.
The easy way is to use a restore point before you made the change. Start and type in restore and look at the top you will find what you need

This tutorial may help you get started with correcting the error by using the exe and lnk (LNK) options. :)

In Windows Explorer right-click the file and in the context menu, click on Open With. (If you don't have an Open With option, close the context menu and start again, this time by 1st holding down the SHIFT key and then right-clicking on the file. This should enable the Open With menu.)

Click on Choose Default Program, and check your selected program. If you don't see the program that you want as your default for that type of file, at the right-side of the menu window, click on the little + "Tree" icon which opens the full list of menu choices, and see if you find it there.

When you're done, be sure to check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

If you don't find the program you want, you still have 2 more options. First, you can click on Browse and search your entire computer, and/or second, you can check the link that says "If the program you want is not on the list or on your computer, you can look for the appropriate program on the Web."
