Windows 7: Need To Find a New Calendar App

Yahoo has taken a page out of the Microsoft book, and has updated its Calendar app, transforming a former Yahoo Calendar app that was wonderful -- into the new, updated version which is terrible and practically unusable!

So, now I need to find a new Calendar app that also sends out Reminders. Does anyone have any suggestions other than the Windows Live Mail/Hotmail Calendar?

OR does anyone know how one can revert back to the former version of Yahoo's Calendar app?

Have you checked out Google calendar?

Yes, but the Google calendar only allows notifications to be sent to one's Google email (which I don't have and really would prefer not to have). I need a calendar that allows notifications to be sent to any email. I would imagine that shouldn't be a problem with most calendars that are not attached to email clients. Even Yahoo allows notifications to be sent to any email. But thanks for the suggestion, Carolyn.

Any other calendar apps that posters know of?

i really like rainlendar, although i only use it locally, and haven't really explored its online abilities.

it gives on-screen reminders, but not email as far as i know, if that's what you're looking for.

I'm not sure of all the features but the Vista Calendar was the only Windows one I tried and liked. This page shows how to use it in Windows7:

I'm really depressed --- I use my calendar multiple times every day --- and the new Yahoo Calendar version just isn't as customizable as the old one. But I've looked through, I think, every personal + business calendar I could find on line, and they all have major flaws.

For example, the former Yahoo version gave you a lot of space to display all of your event information --- now it displays only a few short words. Yes, you can roll your mouse over the date and see the whole thing, but it was very nice to be able to just look at the calendar at a glance, and see ALL the information.

Plus, Yahoo has now added a colored "tab" over each date with an event, and the tab cuts off the bottom half of the text so you can barely read what the words say. Yes, I can make the font size smaller --- but that changes the font size for the whole web -- so that means that every time I go to look at the calendar, I have to reduce the font size and when I'm done with it, I have to make the font large again.

But, Yahoo Calendar does have all the functions I need, and I haven't found any other calendar that's better, so I guess I'm stuck with it. Sigh!

Thanks so much for trying JohnnyA. I got really excited when I saw your post, but when I tried the "Try it now" link, it took me to the new version of Yahoo Calendar, not the older version that is discussed in the review.

If anyone else knows of a link to the older version I would sure appreciate having it!!!
