    Missing dll file?

On a recommendation from this forum I downloaded and installed software that will resolve a problem. Only one problem--the software fails to function due to a missing file: "msvcr80.dll".

The author says the problem is mine and my system.

However, I've searched my system and have found at least 10 instances of the file.

    What gives?

There are different versions of it - however try putting a copy of the same bit version in the same directory as the program itself

    What is the program?

It's Salfeld Child Control. I'm only downloading and contemplating using the exe control portion of the software for an office environment.

What do you mean by 'same bit version?'

If you are on 64 bit - you will have 64 and 32 bit versions of that file.

Use the one that is the same bit version as the salfeld whatever .exe

It is probably a 32 bit program - also called x86

I placed a good copy of the dll file in the same dir that the password protect software exe lived. As before, the password software loaded, accepted the password (which I had previously placed on Excel) and failed to load Excel with the same dll missing error. I was just testing this software at the house for my wife who would use it at another location. I'm ditching my effort here (seriously not worth this effort) and will see if the software works on her XP machine later.

    Thanks,
