    Is There a Way to Tell What Program Uses What MS Visual C++...

    Hello. Quite a few programs either install a version(s) of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005/2008 Redistributable, Microsoft.NET Framework, and/or MSXML. I like to uninstall unnecessary programs, and was wondering if there is a way to tell what program uses what so I can uninstall it when I uninstall the program. Thanks!

    In PE Explorer there is a Dependency scanner for EXE and DLL files.
    PE Explorer Dependency Scanner Viewer: look inside dll with this dll analyzer tool find dll dependency
    You can check out, which DLL's program depends on.

    You sould see something like
    Msvcr90.dll for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008
    Msvcr80.dll for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005
    mscoree.dll for Microsoft .NET
    etc.

    But sometimes there are a lot of dlls, and only some of them are the ones you need.

    personally, i don't chose to uninstall these - they don't take up much space, they don't slow your machine down, and you run the risk of software not working properly if you get rid of them.

    my two pence. :)

    try peid, it can detect various things, and you can add your own with the help of a hex editor.
