    Mariv,

I have the exact same problem with you. I can't roll back my driver as well but from google, I found the ndis.sys file is in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

    Cheers,
    F4ith
Faith, I know it's stored in System32 folder but it seems like it has been modified and making confilcts. Maybe you have original file?

    Rickmccl,

Your solution is ok, but did not solve my problem
Just wondering to install again my W7 7000

mariv I wanted to post that it does work so peeps will know. We can look at your issue if you want.

    Original ndis.sys from W7.7000 is 700,680 bytes and dated 12/13/2008, 0200AM.

You might also find it in c:\windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-ndis_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7000.0_none_183111f35806a1f8.

WinSXS is the 'real' location of each file in c:\windows; a driver could replace the file in c:\windows\system32\drivers but it would not be able to change the one in winsxs.
    Try:
    cd \windows
    dir /s ndis.sys

I am sorry I am not able to access my Windows7 at this moment but I think you can restore it to the original point to get the unmodified file. I think you don't have to start from scratch again...

    Try:
    cd \windows
    dir /s ndis.sys

    Rick,

Got same verison of ndis.sys with same date and size in both folders (System32/drivers & winsxs)
Additionally I've tried to install 5.0.04.xxx but again without success. Don't know what happened.

Basically I've made update from Windows 7 b. 6965 to 7000 (not fresh install) and it stopped working :|

    Code:
    C:\Windows>dir /s ndis.sys
Volume in drive C has no label.
     Volume Serial Number is 786E-29C1
     Directory of C:\Windows\System32\drivers
    2008-12-13 08:00 700 680 ndis.sys

    2008-12-13 08:00 700 680 ndis.sys
                   1 File(s) 700 680 bytes
         Total Files Listed:
                   2 File(s) 1 401 360 bytes
                   0 Dir(s) 58 321 756 160 bytes free
    Any ideas guys?

I'm having the same issue as well. I installed Windows 7 (build 7000) on a T60p Lenovo laptop and everything runs fine. When I install the Cisco VPN Client it works until I reboot. When I reboot I get the BSOD referencing ndis.sys. I've tried everything suggested so far in this thread to no avail.

Right now I'm going through the process of installing a few different versions of the VPN Client so we'll see if any of them work.

Yup. I formatted the drive and installed it fresh.

I actually just figured out how to make it work though. Before I was just setting the installer to Vista Compatibility mode and it kept failing. This time, after installing v5.0.04.0300 and before rebooting, I set vpngui.exe to Vista Compatibility and then rebooted. It didn't blue screen and I can now use the VPN Client just fine.

If someone else can try this to verify that this is what actually worked, that'd be great!

Did you set C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\vpngui.exe to Vista Combatibility mode right after you installed it?
