No I never would have been able to install ImgBurn! I used my girlfriend's laptop which I am also using to write to you now.

No, I used mine to download last night and saved to external HDD. Although I think I see where you're going with this....I'll try downloading on GF's machine and write to DVD with a slower speed (x6).

Actually, 4x is best. And make sure the .iso file is clean (slipstreamed updates are ok though), and the correct bit (64 or 32) and correct version (eg Ultimate).

    Hi Slasher,

New issue. I run the new clean installer DVD. I'm pretty sure everything is fine with the iso file and it's definately the Home (Prem) x64. It opens Windows Boot Manager saying Windows has failed to start INsert the disc to do a repair.

    File: \windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
    Status: 0xc0000098
Info: Windows failed to load becasue the kernel is missing, or corrupt

    Any ideas?

Have you re-installed Windows yet or not?

Then this error you are getting is from your current messed up Windows install. Your BIOS should be booting off the CD and proceed to install a fresh Windows 7. Is it not booting from the DVD?

Yes it's definitely booting from the DVD. I can hear it working. It loads files for about 2 mins and then it shows the Windows logo and then shows the error.

I also emailed the OEM support and detailed all my issues. They replied asking me to reinstall the Microsoft Installer except they gave me a link to the 3.5 Installer which is for a different platform so it gives an error when I run it on my 7 x64 machine. Does this make sense at all or are they as useless as I suspect?
